Rosemary and Lemon Botanical Gin

Rosemary and Lemon Botanical Gin

I celebrated the arrival of sun this week with Rosemary and Lemon Botanical Gin, barbecues and wine. Rosemary and Lemon Botanical Gin is an elegant and refreshing drink, perfect for sunny evenings in the garden.

It’s been quite a busy and fun week. It all started on Wednesday when the sun started to heat up. We had some friends round for a barbecue and an evening of wine tasting.

Wine Tasting

The Prosecco had been flowing during the barbecue so we were quite merry before the wine guy arrived with his aluminium cases of wine. Bert set the tone for the evening by dropping the most offensive trump, this was not quite the bouquet of aromas I was expecting from the evening. Me, slightly merry, thought this was hilarious, however the wine guy didn’t appear to be amused. It was both fun and interesting learning about the different wines before slurping them over our tongue and scoring them out of ten. The dogs also seemed to enjoy the experience, they continued to embarrass us by humping each other- a lot! At the end of the evening we were given the sales pitch and I declined the £250 case of 12. The wine was lovely but not special enough to make me part with my cash.

Winner!

The fun continued thanks to Bottega and a Facebook competition. I won two tickets to Prosecco Springs 2018. I was so excited by the news that I arranged the train tickets and dog sitter for this weekend, when it’s actually next weekend!!! Luckily we where able to swap our train tickets and the dog sitter can have them next week, thank you Kerry?.

Inspiration

Gardening and barbecues continued into the weekend and that’s when I got the inspiration for Rosemary and Lemon Botanical Gin. I wanted a light and refreshing gin to cool off in the garden and to compliment the barbecue food. Rosemary syrup complements the zesty lemon and adds a distinctive woody flavour to the gin.

50 ml Gin

15 ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice

15 ml Rosemary syrup

  1. Pour the gin, lemon juice and rosemary syrup into a cocktail shaker, add some ice, then shake for a few seconds.
  2. Pour into your favourite glass and top up with tonic water.
  3. Serve with plenty of ice, slices of lemon and a sprig of rosemary.

Rosemary Syrup

240 g granulated sugar

200 ml water

4 Sprigs of rosemary, leaves removed

  1. Heat the sugar and water in a pan until it reaches boiling point and the sugar has dissolved. Continue to boil and stir for 1 minute.

  3. Strain into a jug and pour into a sterile glass bottle.

This will keep for up to a month in the fridge.
